Information about temporary delay on orders

Updated over 2 months ago

What is a Temporary Delay?

A Temporary Delay is a short hold period applied to any order placed after an Industry Event has started. It helps maintain fair and orderly markets during live or in-progress events.

How long is the delay?

The default delay is 3 seconds, unless the Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA) Exchange specifies a different duration.

When does the Temporary Delay apply?

Event Type

Delay Starts

Delay Ends

Head-to-head matchups (e.g., single game)

Scheduled start time of the event

When the event officially concludes

Single-event futures (e.g., golf tournament, tennis major)

Scheduled start time of the event

When the event officially concludes

Season-long futures (e.g., Pro Football Champion)

End of the regular season

When the champion is determined

Why do we use Temporary Delays?

During live events, information can change rapidly. The short delay prevents unfair advantages from ultra-fast submissions while still allowing you to trade in real time.

An Industry Event is defined as any identifiable live presentation industry event in Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries where the outcome identifies leader(s), achievement(s), accomplishment(s), champion(s), title holder(s) or winner(s) (the “Industry Event Holder”) from the eligible participants in the Industry Event (the “Industry Participants”).
